Mourinho Working Closely with Dele Alli to Rediscover Form

New Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has revealed his master-plan to rediscover Dele Alli’s best form.

Mourinho took over at Tottenham on Wednesday morning after they sensationally sacked Mauricio Pochettino, and he has already worked very closely with Alli to get the best out of the England star.

And speaking ahead of his first game in charge of Tottenham against West Ham on Saturday at the London Stadium, Mourinho revealed he asked Alli: ‘Are you Dele or Dele’s brother?’

The 23-year-old instantly replied: ‘I am Dele’, before Mourinho told him: ‘Okay, so play like Dele.’

Mourinho, who is back in management after being sacked by Manchester United last December, believes Alli has the potential to become a top class player.

‘I already spoke with him,’ Mourinho told Sky Sports. ‘I think he is potentially a fantastic player. Now I have to try to create a tactical situation that he is happy with.

‘I have to give him the right dynamic, prepare him physically well – because he had important injuries too and he’s not on the top of his form.

‘On Saturday, if he plays, I can’t expect him to go there and be man of the match.

‘But (we have) to go through a process that can bring the real Dele back because the real Dele is the one that has impressed us in the past.’

Mourinho will be desperate to get off to a winning start as Spurs boss when he travels to West Ham in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.

The north London outfit have endured an awful start to the new campaign – they currently sit 14th in the Premier League with just 14 points from 12 matches.
