“Porting Activities Slid To 29,515 In January” – NCC

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, on Tuesday, March 9, said that telecommunications firms in the country engaged in only 29,515 Mobile Number Porting, MNP, activities in the month of January 2016.

This is contained in the`Incoming and Outgoing Porting Activities of Mobile Network Operators’ report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

The report showed that there was a decrease of 5,985 in the MNP activities in the month of January 2016, in contrast to 35,500 activities recorded in December 2015.

It said out of the 29,515 porting activities recorded in the month under review, 14,648 were incoming porting activities, while 14,867 were outgoing.

The report indicated in the outgoing table that telecommunications giant, MTN Nigeria, lost 8,430 customers to other networks through the MNP activities in January.

According to the report, MTN is followed by Airtel Nigeria, which lost 4,396 subscribers in the month under review.

It said that Globacom lost 1,065 customers, while 976 subscribers of Etisalat Nigeria ported to other networks in the period under review.
