NSE Index Jumps By 0.13% As Bull Reclaims Control over Trading

Equities trading at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, traced its way back into the Green Zone on Tuesday, April 19, as benchmark indices soared by 0.13 percent compared with a loss of 0.28 on Monday, April 18.

The NSE All-Share Index leaped from N24, 626.02 by 33.15 points to close at N24, 659.17 points while Market Capitalization similarly added N2.75 billion to close at N8.48 trillion.

The Banking Index led Performance across sectors today as it advanced the most, gaining 2.0% on gains recorded in ETI which added 5% or 70 kobo to close at N14.70 and GUARANTY which increased by 2.28% or 35 kobo to close at N15.70 per share

Market breadth likewise rose on account of 22 gainers against 16 losers. Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Plc. lead the gainers with a gain of 7 kobo to close at N14.7 per share, followed by Eterna Plc which gathered 4.94% or 8 kobo to close at N1.70 per share while Tiger Brands Consumer Goods Plc. grew by 4.78% or 11 kobo to close at N2.41 per share.

UACN Plc. led the day’s 16 decliners as it decreased by 5% or 97 kobo to close at N18.43 per share, it was trailed by Interlink Plc which dropped 4.99% or 21 kobo to close at N4 per share while Diamond Bank Plc. lost 4.96% or 7 kobo of its share value to close N1.34 per share.

Top three traders for the day in terms of volume were UBA Plc which sold 62.21 million shares worth N201.24 million followed by Guaranty trust Plc with a sale of 29.8 million shares valued at N466.2 million while Zenith Bank exchanged 29.7 million shares worth N339.54 million.

Investors on the floor of the , traded a total of 228.9 million shares worth N1.4 billion in 3,239 deals compared to 124.3 million shares valued at N552.7 million exchanged in 1,588 deals previously.
