World Bank Donates $315m For Food Security In West Africa
The World Bank has increased its funding for food security by $315 million in order to increase the agricultural systems’ adaptability in West Africa. A second phase of the West Africa regional Food Systems Resilience Program (FSRP-2) that was authorized with funding from the International Development Association (IDA) would benefit an extra two million people, according to a statement taken from the organization’s website.According to the Development Finance Institution (DFI), FSRP-2 will help Chad, Ghana, and Sierra Leonestrengthen their defenses against food insecurity and strengthen the resilience of their food systems. The DFI emphasized that the initiative comes at a time when 38.3 million people in West Africa are expected to be experiencing a food security crisis.
