UNFPA Lauds Cross River On MDGs Targets

United Nations Population Fund Agency (UNPFA) has commended Cross River State government for its partnership to create an enabling environment to meet its Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) target, thereby contributing to the improvement of the welfare of its citizenry.

UNFPA Country Representative, Ms. Ratidzai Ndhlovu, who made the commendation while on a courtesy visit to Governor Liyel Imoke in Calabar, described the state as a model, which should be emulated not only in Nigeria but also in Africa.

“I commend the state on the various programmes which it has initiated with the support of the Agency and for creating an enabling environment to succeed thereby encouraging the development partners to do more,” she said.

Ndhlovu assured the state of the Agency’s continued support to ensure it gets positive result in the interest of Cross River people.

Responding, Imoke explained that the state believes strongly in partnering with the different agencies of the United Nations, as they are great contributors to its developments.
