The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has put a smile on the faces of University of Benin (UNIBEN) students, as they now have access to a 696-bed, modern hostel built and delivered by the commission. This was contained in a statement by Ibitoye Abosede, Head Corporate Affairs, NDDC.
Inaugurating the hostel project, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Governor of Delta State, who is also the Chairman of the Advisory Council of NDDC, thanked NDDC for building the hostel, adding that the commission, as an interventionist agency, has been doing a lot.
Osifo Osasere Favour, President of the Student Union Government (SUG) also expressed his appreciation to the commission. “This will go a long way in solving accommodation problems in the school. We thank NDDC for this wonderful project. We are impressed by the work NDDC is doing. We will do all we can to enable NDDC get funds to do more,” he said.
Sir Bassey Dan-Abia, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NDDC explained that the gesture would go a long way in easing the overcrowding of hostels witnessed by the students.
