English professional football club, West Bromwich Albion were on Tuesday awaiting a fresh bid from Swansea for Peter Odemwingie as the embattled striker moved closer to the Hawthorns exit. The Swans are now favourites for Osaze’s signature in spite of their opening bid falling behind rivals Cardiff and Stoke.
Osaze has made it clear Swansea is his preferred club and WestBrom now expects Michael Laudrup to step up his opening offer of £1.8m, submitted at the weekend. Swansea’s bid remains on the table along with £2m proposals from the Bluebirds and the Potters, although the Baggies have made it clear the Swans’ opening gambit fell short of their valuation and expect an increase in the next few days.
West Ham and Fulham both had £1.5m bids rejected earlier in the summer, while Crystal Palace also expressed an interest. Odemwingie is determined to move to the Liberty Stadium with the lure of Europa League football putting Laudrup’s side above Cardiff and Stoke in his thinking.
