Former Super Eagles player, Garba Lawal, has said that inviting foreign-based player the country’s team is a huge waste of money.
To this end, he called on the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to mandate whoever is named as the Eagles head coach to build a team from homegrown players in the domestic league.
The Atlanta ‘96 Olympic gold medalist, said: “Inviting foreign-based players is a waste of money. We invite them, pay their air ticket refund, pay them allowances and what do they give us? Nothing. No result.”
He added that national team would do better if the untapped talents in the domestic leagues were given the opportunity into the team.
