On Friday, July 31, the Sokoto State Government donated assorted relief materials worth over N10 million to the victims of flood and windstorm in Butuku-Babba, Jibga, and Shibra communities in Bodinga and Kebbe local government areas of the state.

Speaking shortly after handing over the relief materials to the Caretaker Chairmen of the two local government areas, the Director-General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Hassan Maccido, explained that the items were meant for distribution to 434 beneficiaries in the three communities.

According to him, the materials included 300 bags of rice, millet and maize, 200 pieces each of mattresses, 300 bags of cement, 120 bundles of roofing sheets, 200 wrappers and 200 rubber mats, among others.

Maccido noted that the gesture was not aimed at compensating the victims but to alleviate their sufferings. He urged the authorities of the two local government councils to ensure that the items were judiciously distributed among the victims.
