Small scale farmers in Oyo-West Local Government area of Oyo State, have appealed to the government, to make loan access easy for them, in order to enhance productivity at local level, by establishing Bank of Agriculture, BOA.
The farmers, however complained, that the only loan agent available at the local area- Fadama, has not been able to meet their needs, saying that access to the loan from the agency was very difficult.
For Taiwo and Kehinde Oladele, owners of T&K Poultry Farm , who are graduates of Mechanical and Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic, Ibadan, “We face a lot of challenges in the business due to lack of required capital to boost our production. We have tried many times to get loan but we couldn’t.”
They however, pleaded with the government to establish a Bank of Agriculture like the Bank of Industry, BOI, with its branches seated at each of the 774 local government areas, where they could have easy access to loans.
