The Senate, yesterday cancelled the long awaited appearance of the Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah before a plenary session, as the lawmakers decided that she appears before its Committee on Aviation, chaired by Senator Uzodinma (PDP/Imo West ).
However, some lawmakers were not pleased with this decision, as one disclosed that the decision to refer Oduah to the committee instead was a ploy by the Senate President David Mark and some prominent members to give her an easy way out of the scandal .
The aggrieved lawmaker who spoke on condition of anonymity said in the Senate executive session last Thursday, the decision to refer Oduah to its committee instead of making her appear at a plenary session was never agreed upon.
He added: “I arrived this morning (yesterday) with some questions I wanted to ask her (Oduah) after her briefing , only to see written on the Order Paper that she has been referred to the aviation committee. I didn’t want to make a scene and publicly give the impression that the Senate is not united, when the Senate president ask for comment, or I would have insisted on commenting.”
