Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has said he is happy to return to the game after several weeks of absence as a result of his knee injury. He sustained the knee injury while playing for Nigeria in a 2014 World Cup qualifier against Namibia in Windhoek. He also missed the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil last month.
The player was on the field for an hour in a pre-season friendly for Lazio in a 4-1 win over a Brazilian side on Saturday. He played without feeling any pains
Onazi wrote on his Twitter page after the game: “So, it turns out I got my first action on the field of play today since after my knee complaint. Lasted 60 minutes and it went very well.”
“Big thanks to God, my friends and family and all my fans around the world.”
Onazi has been recalled by Head Coach Stephen Keshi for next month’s friendly against South Africa in Durban.
