Chief Ayo Opadokun, convener of Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reform, has said President Goodluck Jonathan lacks the competence to fight corruption successfully.
Opadokun noted, The Jonathan-led Federal Government, lacked the commitment to fight corruption in the country.
In an interview with journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday, Opadokun said the President would be “committing political suicide” if he ventured actively to fight corruption. He also expressed displeasure the Federal Government had, not addressed fully the issues surrounding the alleged mismanagement of $60bn by a former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili.
He said, “I don’t believe President Jonathan can fight corruption. I am not saying this for the first time. I have been very straightforward and consistent about my position. I have no doubt in my mind that the factor that produced him is corruption-soaked and corruption-laden. He would be committing political suicide if he says he would fight corruption.”
