Investigations have revealed that the National Sports Commission (NSC) has revealed plans to expend N1.4 billion of its N5.5 billion budgetary allocation this year on capital projects.
The Lagos National Stadium is off the list of projects to be executed as it was recently concessioned by the federal government to be managed by private outfit.
In the defense of the budget by the commission, there were highlights of specific areas of capital spending the commission will focus on this year. One of the major projects include the construction of an indoor sports complex and a basketball court at Akpegede, Otukpo, Benue State costing about N200 million.
Also, the sum of N700 million, represents about 50 percent of the budget set aside for the maintenance of five of the six federal stadia nationwide.
