“No Stopping Me Once I get First Goal” – Yaya Sanogo

Arsenal striker, Yaya Sanogo, has backed himself to fire for Arsenal and claims the floodgates will open once he eventually gets off the mark.

The Frenchman was plucked from relative obscurity by Arsene Wenger last summer, but has struggled to find his feet after overcoming an initial injury last season.

Sanogo has so far made 17 appearances for the Gunners without finding the net, and has been the subject of much frustration in the stands.

However, after grabbing a brace in France U21’s 5-1 win over Kazakhstan, the former Auxerre striker insist it’s only a matter of time until Arsenal fans see the best of him.

‘Football is the football, but it takes time to adapt,’ he told L’Equipe.

‘When you come out of Ligue 2 and you end up in a duel with [Man City’s Vincent] Kompany, it is not an easy task.

‘On all aspects (of my game) I’ve evolved. When you train with great players every day, you progress. When you play big teams, it helps gain experience.

‘The fans expect me to score more, but once the first one goes in they’ll come.

‘At 21, it’s not easy to play striker at Arsenal. You have to fight every day to prove your worth. But Wenger just pushes me to continue my work will eventually pay off.’
