Military Troops Kill 18 Boko Haram Members

About 18 members of the Boko Haram sect have been killed by Military troops on patrol in Borno state. The sect members were about to attack some settlements in the outskirts of Bama and Ngurosoye, in Borno State before the troops swooped on them.

This was confirmed yesterday in a statement issued by Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade, the Director of Defence Information (DDI), who also revealed that 16 burnt AK 47 rifles were found in the debris, while five pickup vans, seven voxwagen Gulf cars and one Hillux truck were destroyed.

According to Olukolade, a total of 75 villagers were screened and released in the course of cordon and search in the adjoining communities.

The DDI further revealed that mop up operations were ongoing on Mandara Mountains and Haraza hills, adding that many terrorists died in the encounter, while a soldier lost his life and five others were wounded.
