Lagos State Government has said that hoodlums and touts are an obstcle to its mega city dream and as such will not be allowed to operate in the state.
Mr. Bayo Sulaiman, Chairman, Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) said this on Thursday during a meeting in Alausa with the executives of National Union of Road Transport Workers. He urged them not to allow miscreants and touts in motor parks. He said, “There have been complaints of touting, pick-pocketing and petty crimes in some motor parks at Oshodi, Mushin and environs. “The government will not fold its arms and watch Oshodi return to its pre- transformation state where lawlessness was the order of the day.”
He also criticized the attitude of some commercial drivers, who disregard bus stops and stop by the roadside to pick passengers. He said such an action obstructed the free flow of traffic, adding that such offences would no longer be overlooked. Sulaiman also advised the union members to limit transport activities to parks, adding that any violation would no longer be tolerated. The representatives of the NURTW promised to abide by the rules and regulations of the state.
