Bunza Local Government Council in Kebbi has earmarked N45.6 million for poverty reduction and job creation. This was disclosed by Alhaji Aliyu Raha, the council’s Chairman in an interview today. He said that some part of the money would be used to provide materials and equipment at the Skills Acquisition Centre in Bunza.
According to Raha, 356 youths would be trained in various trades, including shoe making, carpentry, welding, computer and auto mechanic by experts.
The Chairman added that a committee of councilors would screen and choose the qualified people that would participate in the training.
“Carry everybody along irrespective of political affiliation. Our major concern is the accelerated growth and development of our people. Job creation would serve as panacea to youth restiveness and other criminal tendencies; the council will create additional employment opportunities for our teeming youths,” he said.
