The unwillingness of customers to pay their electricity bills is costing Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company very much, as it loses about N2 billion every month because of this.

This was disclosed by the Managing Director of the company, Engineer Garba Haruna after  inspecting facilities at the Sokoto Independent Power Plant recently.

He said KEDCO ought to have been generating revenue to the tune of N3 to N4 billion every month but for the non-compliance of customers to timely payment of bills, adding that part of the measures taken to block leakages of revenue include providing 500,000 meters within a space of five years.

Haruna explained that only 25 percent of their customers had been metered, making it easier for some residents to be defrauding the company.
