Judiciary Needs to Strengthen Deposit Insurance Practice – CJN

Justice Aloma Muktar, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), has described the role of the judiciary as critical in strengthening deposit insurance laws and practice in the country. Speaking in Abuja at the opening of a sensitization seminar for judges which was organized by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Commission (NDIC) in conjunction with the National Judicial Institute (NJI), tagged: ‘The Challenges to Deposit Insurance Law and Practice’, the CJN, who was represented by Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, said notwithstanding the laudable achievements of the corporation, it needed the full support of the legal profession to effectively execute its primary mandate of safeguarding depositors of failed financial institutions.
