FIFA U20 World Cup: Uruguay Defeats Nigeria

Dashing the hopes of the young African players to reach the last eight of the competition, Uruguay defeated Nigeria U-20 team in the round of 16 to end.

Nicholas Lopez opened the scoring in the 65th minute when he fired in from close range after goalkeeper Samuel Okani spilled a free-kick. The highlight of the game was when the red card was given to Nigeria right back Abdulahi Shehu in the 41st minute for a second bookable offence in interval of two minutes.

In spite of playing one man down for the entire second half, Nigeria gave a good fight and fought back with Kayode Olanrewaju getting an equalizer in the 69th minute with a solo effort.

Lopez wrapped up the game in the 84th minute when he converted a penalty after Ndidi brought down a Uruguayan player inside the penalty area.
