The organisers of the Businessday Banking Conference Awards said Fidelity Bank won the award among three other banks that were nominated after a critical assessment of their loan portfolios and overall contribution to the SME sector.
A statement released on Wednessday, said the event was instituted as a way of rewarding banks that are supporting economic growth in the country without putting the financial sector at risk. It, thus serves as a positive incentive for banks to support the economy in a credible way while recognising and rewarding banks that have adopted best practice in delivering services to the Nigerian people, the organisers said.
Fidelity Bank Plc’s efforts to grow wealth and raise a new generation of entrepreneurs in the country has been recognised as the bank emerged the best bank in support of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).
Receiving the award, Head, External Communications, Fidelity Bank Plc, Ejike Ndiulo who represented the Group Head, Marketing Communications, Emma Esinnah thanked the organisers for believing in the bank.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Mr. Reginald Ihejiahi had called on Nigerians to believe in the federal government’s efforts to grow the economy by supporting local initiatives.
