The Federal Government has concluded plans to spend additional $1 billion ,about N160 billion toward the evacuation of gas to power plants, in order to boost power supply in the country.

This emerged after an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting presided over by Vice President Namadi Sambo in State House, Abuja, on Monday.

According to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Power, Ambassador Godknows Igali, the money would be sourced from Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NPDC) and the private sector.

Igali explained that Monday’s meeting was a follow-up to a similar one jointly held earlier between Minister of Power, his counterpart in Petroleum Resources, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as well as the chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to discuss issues affecting gas supply to power plants.
