Entertainment Industry Holds First Insurance Convention

On Tuesday, July 22, 2014, The Nigerian Entertainment Industry  held the first edition of its Health Insurance Convention at the Grand ball room of Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and control (NAFDAC), Dr Paul Orhii in his address, entitled: “The Health Implications of Celebrity Lifestyle,” addressed sensitive issues and its attendant dangers ranging from the choice of foods, drinks and creams adopted by many celebrities all in an attempt to stay trendy.

Also , the executive Secretary of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Dr Femi Thomas gave an address on ‘The Benefits of Health Insurance.”

Members of the panel at the session include Dr Tosin Awosika (MD Healthcare International), Ms Adesimbo Ukiri (MD Avon Healthcare) and Mr Chinedu Chukwuji (GM COSON), while the commentators were veteran Disc Joker (DJ) and president of DJ Association of Nigerian, Jimmy Jatt; veteran producer- OJB Jezreel; President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ms Ibinabo Fiberesima and founder of Nigerian Music Video Awards- Mr Cally Ikpe.

The session revealed the different plans available under health insurance and benefits attached to it and over 90% of the attendees indicated interest in the questionnaire to subscribe to health insurance.
