Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi ll, has laid foundation for multi-billion naira projects at the Bayero University, Kano.
The projects include a new central mosque and centre for Islamic civilization. The mosque located at the university’s new site along Kano-Gwarzo road, will accommodate 1,200 worshippers including women when completed, while the centre on the other hand is to promote Islamic activities in line with modern civilization.
The emir urged management of the institution to make good use of the facilities, describing the establishment of the centre as timely.
Sanusi said the centre would help in addressing social problems facing the society, while the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, said the mosque would be completed within three months.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Abubakar Rashid, thanked the emir for his support to the institution.
