The comptroller-general of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Col. Hameed Ali, has expressed hope that the Service will meet up with the N944 billion revenue target for 2015 given it by the federal government.
Ali who read the riot act to officers and men of the Service on Tuesday, November 3, in Abuja, stated that under his watch any officer caught in act of corruption will be sanctioned appropriately.
Fielding questions from newsmen, on the sidelines of the second day of his familiarization visits to relevant government agencies, Ali who admitted that there are some glitches in area of revenue generation stated, however, that the target is not unrealizable.
“The fact is that we are behind what we are supposed to realise, but we are hopeful that this is our ember months and I believe by the time October return comes in, we will expect rise in what we have been able to gather.”
“We are hopeful that November will bring some good tidings and also by December we should be able to round up to meet our target, which is N944 billion,” the Customs boss stated.
