Some moments after engaging in a gun duel with policemen on Wednesday, Violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram attacked Banki, a border town with Cameroon in Bama Local Government of Borno state, slitting throats of residents. Though the details of the attack are not clear yet, Lawan Tanko, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, told journalists that the terrorists killed a policeman and injured several residents.
It was reported that an unspecified number of residents were killed by the members who went from house to house, slitting the throats of the residents for over an hour in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to some of the residents, the attackers who were armed with sophisticated weapons came into the town with motorcycles and Hilux Toyota vehicles town from nearby bushes. They were also said to have attacked the police station so as to take control of the town.
