In order to prevent a situation that could further cause decadence in the health sector, medical practitioners in the country have been urged to embrace professionalism and research.
This appeal was made by the Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, Ekiti State, Dr. Majekodunmi Ayodele, who also urged the workers of the health institution to shun rumours about the management’s response to the payment of some of their benefits .
Speaking in Ado Ekiti on Monday, February 16, Ayodele maintained that the persistent crisis in the health sector is as a result of ego tussle among the medical workers.
He explained that it is dangerous to allow the situation persisit as it would stunt the growth of the medical sector.
“One thing is very clear in the health sector, the doctors cannot perform the role of pharmacists, while pharmacists cannot perform the role of nurses or medical laboratory technologists and vice versa. So, no professional can refer to the other as inferior,” the CMD said.
He promised that his administration would continue to place high premium on the welfare of workers to motivate them and create an enabling environment for optimum health care delivery.
