The bearish trend swept through trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, on Thursday, July 2 as the All Share Index and Market Capitalization, plunged by 0.38 per cent each.
Specifically, the All Share Index dropped by 124.32 basis points or 0.37 per cent to close at 32,739.11 points as against 32, 863.43 points recorded on Wednesday, July 1, while Market Capitalization dipped by N42.438 billion to close at N11.176 trillion compared with N11.218 trillion recorded on Wednesday,July 1.
Investors at the close of trading on Thursday, July 2, traded a total of 186.734 million shares valued at N1.767 billion in 3,257 transactions as against 323.560 million shares valued at N4.728 billion in 4,090 transactions recorded on Wednesday, July 1, with the financial services sector accounting for a total of 160.298 million shares valued at N1. 190 billion in 1,892 deals as against 270.325 million shares valued at N2.911 billion in 2,523 deals recorded in the previous trading day.
However, the banking sub-sector was the most active when investors traded a total of 114.626 million shares valued at N1.190 billion in 1,892 transactions as against 237.865 million shares valued at N2.744 billion in 1,772 transactions recorded on Wednesday, July 1.
