Yesterday, the leadership of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, (ASUP), the Colleges of Education and Academic Staff Union (COEASU) and Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike gave an indication that the current strike by the two unions would soon come to an end.
Both ASUP and COEASU have been on eight-month and six-month strike respectively.
This was disclosed at a peace meeting brokered by the House of Representatives on Education between the Federal Government and the striking lecturers of both polytechnics and colleges of education.
The House Committee, chaired by Honourable Aminu Suleiman, at the meeting, urged the parties to resolve issues that led to the strike in the interest of the students who had been at home for too long as a result of the strike.
