As part of its efforts to diversify its sources of funding, the Nigerian Army is planning on building a standard hotel in Enugu.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, disclosed this yesterday, while inaugurating the refurbished Officers’ Mess at the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army in Enugu.
Ihejirika said the hotel would be built under a public-private partnership arrangement.
He remarked that the hotel would offer alternative to soldiers in transit and would also be made accessible to the civilian population.
Comparing the current state of the Officers’ Mess to what it was, when he assumed duty as the army chief, Ihejirika said he was very pleased with the renovation work at the mess which he described as ‘a five-star mess.’
