Aliyu Wabba Elected New NLC President

A former president of the Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Aliyu Wabba, has been elected president of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

Mr. Wabba was elected early Saturday at the rescheduled delegates’ conference in Abuja which ended this morning.

Mr. Wabba’s major opposition was Joe Ajaero of the National Union of the Electricity Employees, and he will be replacing Abdulwaheed Omar, whose tenure expired recently.

Mr. Omar, a member of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, succeeded Adams Oshiomhole of the Textile Workers Union.
