9 Dead, 6 Injured, In Akure – Ilesha Crash

Tragedy struck yesterday morning along Akure-Ilesa expressway,  when nine people lost their lives in a fatal auto crash along the express way,  while six others were injured.

It was disclosed that the accident, which  occurred around  4.30 a.m. at Ileri junction, was as a result of  the  driver’s high speed.

The  incident was said to have caused a  traffic snarl  along the expressway, which left  motorists and commuters stranded for hours.

Confirming the incident, the Unit Commander of the Federal Roads Safety  Corps (FRSC) in Ilesa,  Osun State, Mr David Gaya,  stated that the accident occurred  when the vehicle, a Toyota Hiace  which was coming from Akure, Ondo State  capital, ran into a ditch due to high speed.

He explained that the remains of the victims  have been deposited at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, Osun State, morgue.
