The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOS), Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, has pledged to assist the management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in getting all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of the federal government to promptly settle their bills for electricity consumed by them.
She made the pledge recently when she received in her office, the management team of AEDC led by the managing director, Mr Neil Croucher.
In this regard, the Head of Service promised to table the matter of MDAs electricity debt at the next Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting early January, next year.
She also disclosed that the office of the HOS had written to instruct the Budget Office in the ministry of finance to deduct its monthly electricity bills upfront and remit same to the AEDC.
“I will not like a situation where we would have frequent disconnections because of unpaid electricity bills in this office. Such a disconnection can disrupt our operations and I don’t want any such kind of incident,” she stressed.
To smoothen the process of payment, however, she asked the AEDC management to liaise with her staff for verification of the outstanding payment due to the company from the office of the HOS.
Earlier, Croucher said the company decided to visit the Head of Service to reciprocate her gesture after she visited the AEDC headquarters and assured of AEDC’s commitment to excellent customer services, while also appealing for her support in getting some of the indebted ministries, departments and agencies to clear their outstanding electricity bills.
