Vote, Not Fight: 14 Presidential Candidates Sign Peace Accord To Shun Violence Ahead Of 2015 Elections

All 14 Presidential candidates for the 2015 general elections have signed peace accord to maintain serenity in the nation’s polity.

This move by the aspirants of the 14 registered parties including the incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan,  is in a bid to achieve a hitch-free electoral process.

The candidates signed the pact at the 2015 General Elections Sensitization Workshop on Non – Violence on Wednesday, in Abuja.

President Goodluck Jonathan, who spoke at the work-shop, said in part: “For those of us that are politicians, we must avoid provocative statements, we must avoid threatening ourselves. It is saddening that we make statements that are provocative and the younger ones are listening to us.”

In view of the agreement, no form of political violence will be tolerated before, during or after the polls, as the candidates are committed to maintaining peace and sanity in the nation.
