LG, Traders at War Over N65 Million Market Project in Katsina

There is a brewing war between Malumfashi Local Government Area in Katsina state and the Amalgamated Traders Union over the proposed N65 million market project.

It was gathered that the traders are against the project because of security challenges, distance and poor patronage, so they lamented that citing the market at Lambun Kyauta village along Malumfashi-Funtua road would be a waste of resources.

Reacting to the impasse, Chairman of the council, Alhaji Muktar Ammani, told newsmen that he met with various stakeholders before arriving at the decision to build the new market along Malumfashi-Funtua road.

He explained that many wealthy individuals were approached to surrender their lands which were closer to the town, but they refused, adding that  the council even offered N1 million for a hectare of land for the proposed market and they all declined the offer.
