HIV/AIDS: Early Detection Of Status Saves Life – NACA

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has called on Nigerians to embark on voluntary test to know their HIV/AIDS status as the knowledge can save their lives.

The Director General of NACA, Prof. John Idoko, who made the call during a press briefing to commemorate the World AIDS day, noted that most Nigerians do not know their status which makes it hard for them to avail themselves of the various treatments that could save their lives.

Speaking on theme of this year’s world AIDS day celebration, which is “Take charge; get a HIV test, Idoko said various testing sites will be designated across the country to ensure that those interested can get tested.

According to him, provisions have been made to test 80 million persons before 2015, and put an additional one million persons on treatment.
