Entertainment Industry Can Produce Millions Of Jobs – Afolabi

The Managing Director, Creat `ur` Agency, a modelling firm, Mr. Tunde Afolabi, said that the entertainment industry could produce millions of jobs for youths.

Afolabi said that the industry, if well harnessed, would be one of the biggest employers of labour in the country because of its vast potential. He said that there are potential job opportunities in modelling, beads and craft making, fashion design, styling and creativity.

The director said that the sector was endowed with talented and gifted individuals capable of using their natural gifts to create jobs and to also earn a living.

“If government can properly channel more funds to the industry, it will be the highest employer of labour and it will generate huge revenue,” he said.

He urged the Federal Government to assist in providing soft loans for practitioners to support their creativity.

“Such loans will assist individuals in the industry to expand their businesses and come out with quality products.  It will also assist practitioners to obtain quality machines for mass production and also boost manpower. Such a move would fetch the Federal and State Governments huge revenue, “ he said.

Afiolabi said that it was high time for Nigerians to be proud of their African fashion and style, both at home and abroad. “Some local and foreign artistes, actors and actresses wear African attires to shoot their videos and to perform on stage.

“What that means is that African style has taken its position internationally. Such trends will increase foreign exchange earnings and also increase the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), “ he said.

He also charged the Federal Government to create an enabling environment for investors, for entertainment industry to thrive in the country.
