A faction of the umbrella body of health workers in the country known as Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) has disassociated itself from calls for the removal of the Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu.
It labeled those behind the calls as corrupt persons, and accused them of using the union as a platform to pursue their selfish interest.
In an advertorial signed by the Coordinators, Committee for the Campaign for the Good of the Health Workers (CCGHW), Joshua Mende, Akachukwu Ukoha and A. A. Borishade , it stated that the union has derailed from its set objectives which is to fight for the welfare of its members and have started diving into politics.
The statement alleged that some persons were using the union to extort money from opposition politicians and using its members as articles of trade to distort activities in the health sector.
It would be recalled that the Joint Health Sector Unions had on Monday in advertorials renewed its demand for the removal of health minister Onyebuchi Chukwu, nearly a month after its first call for his sack during a protest in December.
