The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), through its Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS) has procured and commissioned a new dialysis and intensive care unit at the Asokoro District Hospital.
This brings to two, the number of dialysis and intensive care units in general hospitals in the FCT, the first having been commissioned at Wuse General Hospital last year.
Secretary, who commissioned the facility at the weekend, reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT administration to provide qualitative, accessible and affordable health care services comparable to that offered anywhere in the world.
Onakomaiya said the administration was aware of the rising number of cases of kidney disease in the society which many had to be referred abroad for treatment, stressing that this necessitated the urgent need for the administration to procure functional and effective kidney disease management centres with dialysis and intensive care units.
